Devon Playing Field Association Research

In March 2004, DPFA with DevonPlay undertook a mapping exercise of outdoor sport and play provision across Devon.

This research was a review of community sport and play carried out on a Devon-wide basis. The aim of this research, was to obtain a clearer picture of the provision in each parish. It was very encouraging that we had a response rate of 84%. Our expressions of gratitude to all the Parish Council Clerks, community representatives and DPFA volunteers who completed the questionnaires, chased results and spent time ringing ‘round the houses’ for this information. The robustness of the data could not have been obtained otherwise.

The results of this research are used to influence local, regional and national policy makers to bring more resources into Devon communities, it has also helped to focus the work of the Devon Playing Fields Association (DPFA).
